This story was supposedly written by Rick Manners, but since that is also the name of the protagonist, I suspect it was a pseudonym. It was published in Peril magazine, September of 1962. I am reading it from Atomic Werewolves and Man-Eating Plants - When Men's Magazines Got Weird, an anthology edited by Mr. Robert Deis and Mr. Wyatt Doyle.

The background was made in Planet Zoo.

The soundtrack:
Hoyt S. Curtin, "Theme from Mesa of Lost Women"
Albert Glasser, "Theme from Earth vs. The Spider"
Antonio Carlos Jobim, "Wave"
Hubert Clifford, "Drama Link (e)"
Cedric King-Palmer, "Heavy Affliction"
Gary Hughes, "Romantic Evening"
Cedric King-Palmer, "Stormy Passage"
George Elliott, "South Sea Island Lullaby"
Woody Jackson, "Welcome to the New World" (from the Red Dead Redemption 2 soundtrack)
Kapono Beamer, "Stack of Leis"
Henry Mancini & Herman Stein, "Theme from Tarantula"
Pete Rugolo, "Finger of Fear"
Robert Mersey, "Goldfinger"
The Cat Empire, "Jungle"
Dean Elliott, "Theme from Fangface"

The spider in the thumbnail is taken from the film Missile To The Moon.
