Street Fighter II (PC) Playthrough - NintendoComplete
A complete playthrough of U.S. Gold's 1992 PC port of Capcom's arcade hit, Street Fighter II.
This game is absolutely wretched, with gameplay that barely resembles that from the original SF2. The graphics are okay enough, though, that unsuspecting buyers back in '92 could have easily been tricked by the seemingly good graphics shown on the back of the box in stores. There are only four songs in the entire game looped ad nauseum, only two buttons (punch and kick), the animation is goofy beyond belief, and the characters can leap frog higher than the guys from Virtua Fighter can. Maybe they were meant to express the hope the developers had in consumers to take the "leap of faith" on this product, despite US Gold's name being on the box. Or not.
I'm using Dhalsim to play through this one because his super long limbs can dominate everything at any difficulty level. Good luck trying to convince the controls and the screwy hit detection to have mercy on you if you pick anybody else.
I recorded this off of a PC running MS-DOS, so no DosBox or whatever is involved here. The music is being played through a SBAWE32 with chorus and reverb enabled on the FM. Sounds a bit less cheesy that way, I think. :)
