This is video #12 in my Arcade Superplay series of games that I played decades ago - Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha. This is a "quick" update to Street Fighter Zero 2 ("Alpha 2" outside Asia) that added some extras such as Satsui no Hadou ni Mezameta Ryu (known as "Evil Ryu" outside Japan), Survival and Dramatic Battle game modes, and a few more things, as well as simplifying the Original Combo activation input to just HP + HK.
While I didn't really play that much Zero 2 back in the days, the Shin Gouki (Akuma outside Japan) challenge was one of the things I always did when Zero 2 Alpha came out in the arcades back in '96. To fight him, hold MP + MK at the title screen and press (and hold) Start. Honestly, this version of the challenge is the most painful if you ask me. But then, as broken as he is, he's just no match for...
I'm using Sakura for this challenge. As usual, no losses, no continues, no cheats, no tool assists, no excuses. This is a 1-credit-clear (1CC) playthrough on the CPS-2 board's Level 8 (Hardest) setting. Watching US pro gamer Floe actually do this challenge was pretty funny.
I'll probably do the "long" Shin Gouki Zero 2 run after this. Also, I added a bonus after the Sakura playthrough. I just couldn't help being a scrub LOL!
