This is the engine out of my 93 Hardbody, the ka24e to be exact. It needed a thorough clean to not only get the grime but to flush out any metal inside, which I'll swiftly explain in a moment.

I'm sure there's concern for if this is a good idea, not going to say whether it is or not. I've never torn down an engine much less pressure washed one before. I of course did NOT forget to blow air through to dry, then oil down everything to prevent rust.

Why I went this route. I bought this truck with a presumed "blown up engine", "because the last guy used too much rtv when doing the timing cover."
From what I could gather after the teardown, that seems to be the case, RTV blocked an oil passage or stopped up the pump(past the filter). Also signs of oil starvation causing both a time jump(hydraulic tensioner with no check valve) and the bearing caps were chewed up because of this. The latter introducing metal particulates into the system. Very very fortunately the caps took the beating and not the vital internals!

The only way I could think to practically guarantee no more metal was inside, the washer and compressed air felt like the best choice, blowing out all the passages and gallies.
