StS Non-Commentated - Defect A5
Slay the Spire is a roguelike deckbuilder full of carefully calculated attacking, defending, and weighing the tradeoffs in both the short and long terms. https://store.steampowered.com/app/646570/Slay_the_Spire/
Since the last Ironclad run was so short, I played a Defect run pretty much right afterwards.
This started out as me trying out an early Bullseye to see if I could get some good value out of that type of "orb vulnerable"... but what ended up falling into my lap for scaling was the usual frost-focus stuff. Oh well.
We get some good hints as to the kinds of power-chain-usage Defect can get up to with Storm and Amplify, but I think this run kind of emphasized why I haven't been going out of my way to go get those; it's pretty hard to set up really good turns with them, at least with the base 3 energy. On one of those runs where I had 4 energy, Charged Battery, Meteor Strike, and was running energy generation and card draw, fitting in those powers as cheap extra output once that engine was up and running would be great, and Amplify is cheap and reusable unlike Echo Form.
Ultimately, whatever ends up in the deck, it seems like you want to have front-loaded good attack and defense for the first couple of acts, but have "scaling options" ahead of time that get you ready for bosses / act 4 etc., that you can simply draw past or not play if you don't have time for it. That's why card draw is so good.
