After the trailer was showcased at DC FanDome, Will Arnett conducted a small interview with creative director and co-founder Sefton Hill at Rocksteady Studios, which gave us the first details of the game.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League takes place in an open world Metropolis under attack by Brainiac and his minions. In this game, he seems to be mind-controlling the Justice League, which ends up in Amanda Waller tasking the Suicide Squad - Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark - to kill them, with bombs attached to their heads.

The game offers co-op elements, allowing you to play with up to four friends, and to switch between characters that better suit your play style at any time. Note that the very same can be done in single player, in which bots will fill up the roles of other Squad members as you progress through the game. Sefton Hill assured that playing the game offline will not affect your experience.

Each Squad member comes with unique weapons and free roam abilities briefly showcased in the announce trailer.

Sefton Hill confirmed that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a “continuation” of the Arkhamverse, which left some people confused, mostly due to some character designs not matching with the previous ones. We don’t know when exactly it takes place in the Arkham universe, but from Sefton’s statement, he made it seem like the game is a sequel to Arkham Knight. If that ends up being the case, we could potentially be looking at a Justice League without Batman.

For taking place in the Arkham continuity, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be filled with easter eggs and references to the Arkham series and the stories that took place in its four games. Some of them can already be spotted in the trailer.

We’re still a while away from seeing actual gameplay footage of the game, given it’s scheduled for 2022, for PC, Xbox Series X and PS5.
