Enter Alzadick. Like Recca, it was also present as the game for the Summer Carnival '92. Let's think about it... Why would Naxat Soft have 2 games at the same time with the same genre on the same competition? Hmm?
Alzadick is such a limp game!

It's more interesting to speculate the circumstances between the two than discussing Alzadick itself. But this is a video to showcase and review the game, so to speak, so let me at least explain some stuff...
In Alzadick you can shoot and bomb, then change speeds. You can bomb exactly once per game. There are 4 variant of bombs that you can use, but I'd say only one of them is useful. You're also given 4 shots. This is my main gripe of Alzadick: The 4 shots are lame! A is entirely diagonal, B is side-backwards, C is entirely frontal, and D is entirely backwards. That's it! Compare it to Recca that has the flexible and powerful Vulcan, homing and impregnating Laser, the powerful Burst, the wide and trusty Fire and the homing and ever-ready Homing! The weapon variation alone is limp! It's one thing to have weak variations... But only 1 shot type of 4 is useful! You'll only want to use A. Other shot types are detrimental for your offensive capabilities as a caravan shooter!
I'm willing to forgive the lacking content, really. It only has 3 scoring modes and 2 story modes, totaling to just 2 unique stages. That's it! It is what it is, and I'm aware of such lacking content before playing this game. But boy this game is difficult for mainly wrong reasons.
But to be fair, the caravan stages, albeit pretty early at showing its repetition, is nice. It's a shame you have to tackle them with such a bad weapon variety... For optimal scoring it's to the point of specifically destroy parts before finishing off the boss. That is nice. Also the game has this shield system where if you get hit while having the power up you'll only power down. Get destroyed while in 0 power up, then you'll lose a life. Not bad for making the game less punishing.
Overall... well... it's not that unpleasant to play this game... unless when you're playing seriously and you weapon switch from A to literally other weapons... It's just not that fun to simply play like Recca, despite Recca's notorious difficulty. There is importance in making your shots feel awesome to use, folks! My suggestion to make this game give you less disappointment? Of all Summer Carnival games, play this game first. So at least when you're done with the series it won't end with a low note.
