Summoner: AGR is the GameCube version of Summoner 2. The "Summoner" series was an interesting ARPG series that was fairly well-recieved upon its release, but was short-lived. While many state that the original PS2 game (the first Summoner, not the sequel) is better, the series as a whole are nice, relatively early ARPGs for PS2 and GC.

The graphics are pretty good and the music is okay, but the things that stand out in this game (and a characteristic I like in RPG games in general) is character customization and a relatively nice story. I like games with lots of items and characters that change in appearance with the gear they wear, and the game is pretty challenging too. To compensate for this, you're allowed to save anywhere at almost any time. The camera can be somewhat problematic at times.

The story is about a woman named Maia, Queen of Halassar, who is also said to be the goddess Laharah reborn. There once existed a miraculous tree of creation known as the "Tree of Eleh", and Laharah planted the seed to that tree and created the "First Born" (who founded the Kingdom of Halassar), but Eleh was destroyed by a dark, magical storm. Laharah then departed, but not before promising to return and heal the tree. Years passed and in Laharah's absence, the kings of Halassar turned from the path of righteousness and their devotion and worship to Laharah became perverse and diabolical, creating a dark cult know as the "Nhuvasarim".

The Nhuvasarim were eventually banished by Githiran I, the first emperor of Galdyr, but they still prayed and hoped that Laharah would completely rid the land of evil and that this phrophecy would come true. After two thousand years after Githirans death, the phrophecy is set in motion.
