Sunrise - The Wintervale Saga - Episode 36
8The party continued their way towards the Frost Barrier hidden in the forest beyond the bridge. Finding that their opposition was growing more powerful as they went on, they used everything at their disposal in order to continue to force open a path.
They were first met by Ser Tywin, Ren's old teacher and a member of the Brotherhood of Sol, summoned to assist the Kenku against the party before they were able to proceed further, but after horribly underestimating them, Tywin was forced to flee.
As they crossed the Bridge, they were met by Dragon's Howl once more, also intent on slowing them down, though his reasoning seemed to differ from Tywin. With a brutal battle against him, Dragon's Howl eventually fled from the fight, though not out of anger, but of excitement.
Able to finally rest without opposition within the towers surrounding the bridge, the team was fully rested for the battle yet to come which would test everyone's abilities to the fullest. The massive obelisk of ice called forth a guardian spirit of a Headless Horseman to defend it, using it's own magical energy to keep it alive. But after enough damage had been dealt, the light from the Frost Barrier faded and the killing blow was struck... by Cyrus, of all people, finally proving to himself that he indeed is capable of more than he realized. Whether that goes to his head or not still remains to be seen.
With the Frost Barrier destroyed, the weather around the party seemed to have completely changed. The snow had stopped, the clouds had parted, the winds had slowed and the temperature rose. And on top of it all... for the first time in well over 100 years in Wintervale... there was a Sunrise.
Now knowing that the Frost Barriers are indeed locking the Island in a permanent state of cold darkness, and knowing they have the means and power to destroy them, the Party has determined how to save Wintervale from it's frosty fate. But with a Shadowfell gate nearby that has yet gone undiscovered, and with the Frost Giants still further to the north with Mi'itrik and Dart being held there to compete in their arena, there's still more to be done alongside of dealing with the weather.
And so, the next part of this chapter begins.
