A 1 credit clear of SCIV. I love this one. It was the first classic-style Castlevania game I beat 2 or 3 years ago. This playthrough is very clean for the first half until I get to the sewer level. I've pretty much got the first half of this game memorized like the back of my hand since when I initially learned it on a super-laggy Mini SNES set up I had...pretty much everything got me: stairs, instant pit deaths, knock back deaths, too much damage, no idea how to approach bosses or cheese Death, etc.

While I think Bloodlines and Rondo of Blood are better games mechanically, I feel like the atmosphere of IV is just 10/10 perfection. The first half of the game is just so comfy. I love the music. Although I prefer the pace of Bloodlines more, blowing through the first few levels of these games and just digging Konami's art and music is always like eating warm soup on a cold day. Pure comfort food for the senses.

I had random deaths throughout, especially the 2 in a row at that gear part. That made me nervous. I like that this playthrough was good enough to be a 1cc but not too perfect--it's organic. This is what it often looked like when I'd actually beat games growing up.
