Super Hang-On: Winning Run (2A03 cover, 0CC-FamiTracker)
Pulse 2, meet ARPS.
While I wouldn't really recommend people going out of their ways to play Super Hang-On after literally 32 years of racing games taking the craft to new heights (unless you can play on real cab with the seat!), its music has aged far better. It's just too bad that I spent most of my time on the Genesis version when I was much younger. : P
This was probably too large of an undertaking for a noob tbh. This tune just has a lot of polyphony and I didn't want to let any of it go, so the result is that Pulse 2 is working overtime. It is covering the texture of chords in 3rds and also simultaneously serving as an echo track. There were probably smarter ways to handle the arps, especially during the solo that ends out the piece, which is why you might notice the chords sound a bit uneven--but this is the best I could manage with my limited knowledge.
I also went a little nuts with the percussion and I certainly hope it doesn't offend any sensibilities.
I wonder how this piece will age. I know it definitely taught me a thing or two about taking chord progression and complexity into account with future covers for sure.
