Super Mario 64 Comparison (N64 vs Wii VC vs Wii U VC vs Switch NSO)
Comparing the N64 version of Super Mario 64 to the Wii, Wii U, and NSO versions. (The 3D All Stars isn't included in this comparison since I don't have that version, but I do mention that version in the video). Rather than just show only the NSO portion, I made a new video showing all the versions again. And also adding some details that I missed in the previous comparison.
NSO doesn't seem to have the framerate drops from the N64 version. The picture isn't darker like how it was on Wii and Wii U. The HUD elements still haven't been fixed. And the shadows under the characters are much higher than Wii and Wii U.
Wii doesn't emulate the invisibility effect properly. (Similar effect also happens with Bowser dissapearing and with the teleporting effect). Chain Chomp in Wii has the mouth a purple/darker red color. Both Wii and Wii U have the weird issue in Tick Tock Clock where there's way less fog. Both also have a darker picture quality, but that can be fixed with homebrew.
Wii and Wii U footage was captured with component cables, while N64 footage was captured with composite cables. (I did use some emulator footage for N64, and I made note of when I did). Switch was of course captured with HDMI.
