Here, I show you how the character models have changed a bit over three decades of Nintendo character design. The 2000 (labeled as 1989 in the video) models have more of a retro classic look that was found in the games at the time, the Nintendo Entertainment System and Game & Watch handheld LCD consoles.

Whereas their 2019 counterparts have been updated to reflect the games we play today in more recent times on our Nintendo consoles, the Nintendo Switch, 3DS, DS, Wii and GameCube.
