This saves 3 seconds at most and is difficult. After several attempts, my success rate is maybe 10%.

1. Make sure your long jump lands on the screw slightly off center toward the right. Directly on center, Luigi will just stop on the screw and you have to swing the wiimote to get him to fall off. Too far to the right or left and he'll almost instantly fall off the screw.
2. While sliding along the screw, you can control Luigi's movement a bit. I press left as I'm gliding so I don't instantly slide off.
3. When falling off, I continue holding left and wall jump to the next screw.
