Super Mario Omega turns 10 years old!
Super Mario Omega is a rom hack of Super Mario World that was released on August 26, 2009. It gained a lot of praise for having well designed levels, a fair difficulty curve, and for being one of the first SMW hacks to heavily feature custom music. It also included a special world which featured levels themed around other retro video games including Super Mario Land, Zelda 2, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mega Man 2, Tetris, Super Metroid, and StarTropics! Ten years later there are now a lot of hacks which have overshadowed what made Super Mario Omega so notable, but I'll still always look back at its creation and release fondly.
Super Mario Omega would not have become the widely renowned hack it was if not for the people who let's played it back in the day and really helped word of it get around. Here are the LPs created by some of my favourite pepople:
