Super Mario RPG Special Enemy Super Blooper - Use Shooting Star Shot Triple Move w/Difficulty Spike
This is poor FF2/Phantasy Star pre-optimized random difficulty. At least you can lower the difficulty but these special enemies spam very powerful attacks and don't have a way to discern from normal ones (nor can you summon a gauntlet from what I've seen so far).
They're tougher than bosses, but at least it has auto save and you can do easy mode if you don't want this random bs, though the game is easier outside this anyway.
I definitely recommend giving Mario Defense as he can't be swapped out, unlike the others who can when unconscious. It may also be a good idea to have peach in the starting party to heal or take the first hit and be switched for another character when knocked out. I also had a community post with leuko, who could spam unblockable solidify twice per turn, that hits the whole party.
Terrorize with Bowser also helps for multiple enemies, with fear being the equivalent of ff2 curse to weaken enemies (except way better as it does damage if missing). I am glad that mario can jump on underwater enemies unlike in the platformers as I needed every hit I can get.
