Chcoobo Stomp, Dark Blizzara & Barrier help in a Crisis Core FF7 Reunion Pinch
I can see why I rage quit the original psp version vs Angeal as tough fights I didn't have barrier, that blocks everything (both physical and magical). I could've easily been one spotted in this side quest (4-1-6 pursuit of/search for wutai remnants vs Vajradhala Cala) without barrier. I'm not sure if the original had it, but this also has an easy mode if you didn't do side quests (there are tons at every save point)/materia fusion to maybe have a chance.
I am glad rebirth disappointed me so much I went back and found potential here when not annoyed by the bad animations. The battle system is cool with the DMW (Digital Mind Wave) being like a source of adrenaline (all sorts of mid battle buffs like temporarily unlimited MP/AP for magic/physical abilities) and cancelling bosses' power attacks.
Not in vid but I could only reduce that bar to 25% before barrier bailed me out. Better than some stagger bs (rapidly attack to stun and then do HP damage, kinda justified in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 when there are 4 people attacking, powerful infinity stones for the plot and that was multiplayer despite its dlc flaws. https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Digital_Mind_Wave?so=search
The fandom has the effects under the magic section, which my 3000 damage dark blizzara can also poison and silence though the boss was immune: https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Magic_materia_(Crisis_Core)
Let alone the price dropped for those on the fence, so it's half the price of rebirth and on every platform. The limit break for chocobo stomp looked way better than rush assault, which gave a terrible first impression. I feel my editing for shorts is getting better too.
Surprisingly, IGN had a better materia guide than the fandom, with fire and hp up (rare materia) fusing for barrier (with another fused hp up transferring a 50% hp boost to my barrier). I believe blizzara can be made with an elemental blade if you don't have poison and blizzard for regular dark blizzard.
