Super Metroid: Subversion - Second Quest Playthrough
SM Subversion has a VERY hidden 2nd Quest mode that was not advertised by the devs at all! It changes the location and order of the major items, and makes the playthrough much more difficult, expecting advanced techniques to proceed (any minor glitches I used actually weren't required).
How to unlock second quest in this romhack is a tricky puzzle that starts with saving the animals (which is a puzzle in and of itself). If you want to figure it out yourself, then that is a good starting point. If you want spoilers on this, I explain how to do it further down in the description underneath my links, written step by step in case you only want to get unstuck on a certain part.

To unlock Second Quest:
1. Save the animals by making sure the generator is off before beating the game. You will have to route through screw attack blocks either through the Cargo Rail or Pirate Lab as the other ways to reach the end of the game will be blocked with the power off.

2. You will get a hint telling you that the title demo reel reveals the hidden green path.

3. The title demo you are looking for is in the set that unlocks after beating the game, which shows the more advanced things like IBJ and CF. Specifically, it is the set that starts by showing the Odd Chamber.

4. If you just want a hint about what the Green Path is supposed to mean, look for something green in those title demos that does NOT appear when you are actually there in-game.

5. The Green Path refers to an invisible green door in the wall in Ancient Shaft.

6. Behind this door, you are told to read the second letter of each room name in the order they show up in all of the title demos.

7. The message spells out "fire only ice at dawn's eye".

8. "Dawn's eye" refers to the Stair of Dawn in the Sky Temple.

9. Unequip all beams except for ice and shoot the Namihe in the Stair of Dawn to reveal the entrance to the Odd Chamber.
Congrats! You have unlocked Second Quest across all game files as long as you don't lose your .srm file. If you lose your save or you just want to get this done really quickly, only the last step is actually required to perform, everything before that is just the puzzle eventually pointing you in that direction.
