Playthrough of Super Monaco GP through the Sega Arcade Classics 5-1 CD, where the sound effects and soundtrack of the game are completely static free on both super monaco GP mode (Arcade) and the championship mode on both seasons. This game doesnt have soundtracks while racing so i used music from the Ayrton Senna Kart Duel race music on it as i find it fits perfectly since both games feature Ayrton Senna in it.
In this game theres a neat easter egg( not shown in this video) where if your on the last lap and drive to the left of the track, you will send the Flag Guy flying into the sky. However doing it in the Arcade mode will reduce your Driving Points to 0.
In the first 2 races of season 2, G.Ceara( Ayrton Senna) from the Bullets (Arrows) team will challenge you and this is the biggest challenge in the game which is defeating him at least once on either race 1 or 2 so that the Madonna team wont sack you sending you back to the Dardan (Dallara) team and if that happens, even winning twice again against Senna in Madonna, they will not offer you their seat anymore so it locks you out of the best team. His AI is set to a unique rubberband way to always match max speed without the drafting bonus speed and to win against him you have to race in a better racing line than the AI does as it wont always race the optimum line. Once your in maximum draft speed gain distance, its when you can try to pass him in a corner and if you sucessfully pass G.Ceara, his AI will revert back to the default one using Bullets stats and may start to lose positions depending on how quick you passed him as the car is subpar.
Theres ALOT of misinformation regarding G.Ceara in the internet ( Its common for those old games) but the one that stands out is that people claim you can beat him in any transmission setting( auto , 4 gears, 7 gears) but its fake. Its easy to beat him on auto and hard to beat him on 4 gears but its completely impossible to beat him on 7 gears because: 1 - your too fast to make every corner at max speed and 2 - you will lose ALOT of speed on any corner no matter how much you try to nib through it smootly and every time this happens and your not on your max speed, G.Ceara pulls away from you. I saw years ago videos that shows people beating G.Ceara on 7 gears but they are all fake as they are all using cheats that changes the physics of the game in some way or another or they are playing a hacked version and they claim its the original game in their videos. So if you ever saw one of those, now you know its fake.
When you Pit, the game will show a value of each stat of the car in numbers for each category. When it gets at around 70% to 60%, the "Trouble" warning will appear on the screen and you will immediately feel some sort of performance loss.Below i will dictate what each stat in the machine section of the cars translate into the race as its actually not as obvious as you may think.
Engine - It dictates the car acceleration. It will wear down as you race and abit further on races with lots of altitude changes and rough downshifting but i never saw the car going into "trouble" because of the engine ( Tyrant is tied as having the lowest engine stat but it still can end the races with just enough engine durability before it hits the 60% mark).
Transmission - It dictates the car maximum top speed. The transmission can wear down on its own but its the stat that actually gives you the "Trouble" warning by crashing since it wears it down alot. So essencially cars with maximum Transmission stat can withstand quite alot of crashes and thats is good since YOU WILL crash alot in this game as the AI behaves like obstacles for you. For instance Tyrant can crash over 10 times for "Trouble" to kick in but cars like Bestowal ( Benetton) for instance, as much as 4 to 5 crashes is enough for "trouble" to kick in.
Suspension - Alongside your tires, it dictates how well the car can corner and also dictates the theshold in speed your car can crash into a barrier and not destroying it forcing you to retire. It wears down on its own as you race.
Tire - Alongside the suspension, it dictates how well your car can corner and how durable the tires are as it will wear down substancially by cornering hard( basically wherever you corner and hear the tire screech sound). D and C class will get the "trouble" warning for tires very frequently on long tracks with lots of sharp corners.
Brakes - It dictates how fast the car can brake. It wears down everytime you use it. Even cars with the lowest brakes stat will have a hard time getting the "trouble" warning from it but unlike the Engine stat, it can happen.
