This is a real 2 player game of Super Monaco GP, me (2P Blue) against my mate Neil (1P Red), in a work-in-progress MAME Sega X board ink-up, created by MAME link-up technowizardess SailorSat. The Sega X Board was an arcade system board released by Sega in 1987 as a successor to Sega OutRun hardware. Man, this game is so fast! This was my first time video capturing with a new monitor setup. I hadn't realised as I was recording the display area being captured was slightly smaller than the actual play area (my old monitor displayed weird and was a smidge under 1920x1080). As a result the right hand side of player one's screen got slightly cut off. (This video was actually recorded before the other 2P SMGP I published recently which was displaying correctly - same gaming session, I hadn't realised immediately the capture screen size was too small).

This is 2 versions of MAME linked up in a network on the same PC acting like they're two linked up arcade cabinets. Because of the way the MAME link-up works, you can only have 1 player using a pad, because if an emulator is 'not in focus' it doesn't pick up any pad inputs, meaning only the version of MAME that's been clicked on will work with the pad. However, the out of focus version of MAME will stick pick up keyboard inputs, so I let Neil have the pad and I'm using the keyboard - it actually doesn't play too badly like this.

SailorSat has also created a Sega Y board link-up for Power Drift. This kind of blew my mind when I found out, as I had no idea that Power Drift or super Monaco GP even had any multiplayer link-up functionality. I don't think I ever saw a Power Drift cabinet in real life and I think I only ever saw a Super Monaco in singular upright form. It's amazing to think that Sega were doing link up multiplayer arcade games all the way back in the 80's!
