Here is one of the hardest characters to use in All-Star Mode, it's Duck Hunt Duo, but I do go with the Normal difficulty and not Hard, because Duck Hunt Duo has a very difficult time on Hard Mode. Most of their moves are projectiles, and their aerial attacks don't have the best launching power, the only thing they can do is get off a forward smash on an opponent that has taken about 100% damage, and even in a mode where you deal increased damage to your opponents, projectiles don't mean that much, but at least you take less damage and knockback from your opponent's moves, with stage hazards being one to watch out for.
For Duck Hunt Duo's Alt. Trophies, the 3DS version uses their 5th alternate costume, while the Wii U version uses their 3rd alternate costume. Another thing about Duck Hunt Duo is that their 8th alternate costume is a reference to Banjo & Kazooie, who would then become playable in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
I will go over All-Star Mode and which characters you fight against.
Round 1 (2015-2007): Corrin, Greninja, Lucina, Robin, Dark Pit, Shulk, Bayonetta, Wii Fit Trainer, Rosalina & Luma
Round 2 (2006-2001): Lucario, Lucas, Ike, Zero Suit Samus, Toon Link, Bowser Jr., Roy, Olimar, Villager
Round 3 (1998-1994): Ganondorf, Sheik, Cloud, Jigglypuff, Charizard, Pikachu, Mewtwo, Diddy Kong, Ness
Round 4 (1993-1991): Meta Knight, Falco, Fox, Wario, King Dedede, Kirby, Sonic
Round 5 (1990-1986): Captain Falcon, Yoshi, Dr. Mario, Marth, Mega Man, Ryu, Palutena, Pit
Round 6 (1986-1984): Samus, Zelda, Link, Bowser, Peach, R.O.B., Duck Hunt Duo
Round 7 (1984-1980): Little Mac, Luigi, Donkey Kong, Mario, Pac-Man, Mr. Game & Watch

Duck Hunt Duo only has one stage, and it is in both version, but before the update to Super Smash Bros. for 3DS, Duck Hunt was not in the original release, and this character has been around since Duck Hunt on the NES, so I can see why they would appear along with characters from 1986-1984. Other stages in the 3DS version are Golden Plains, Mushroomy Kingdom, Gerudo Valley, Brinstar, Peach's Castle (64), and Hyrule Castle (64), and in the Wii U version, the stages are Mario Circuit (Brawl), Mushroom Kingdom U, Skyloft, Norfair, Wrecking Crew, Peach's Castle (64), and Hyrule Castle (64).
Duck Hunt Duo's Final Smash Trophy has the two look very large, and the five Wild Gunmen lined up, and this was one of the few Final Smash moves that is a cinematic before Super Smash Bros. Ultimate where about every DLC character had a cinematic Final Smash, and it does have good KO potential in this game, but the move isn't as effective in Ultimate.
