Super Smash Bros. for Wii U - Dec 30 14 A
You asked for it. Well, some of you, at least. So here are some For Glory matches. For Glory has the same modes as For Fun: Smash (up to 4 players, no teams), and Team Battle (two teams of 2 players each, Friendly Fire is turned off). What I'll show here is 1-on-1, a mode only in For Glory with a two-player limit. Unlike the other modes, it runs on Stock, with 2 lives and 5 minutes. (To some of you, this will be my first upload of 2015. For me, it's merely 10 PM.)
I'm sure you all know of it by now, but I should point it out anyway: For Glory is different than For Fun in that it caters to the Final Destinationers. There are no items, and all stages are in their Omega Mode, which means it has a single platform: A solid flat chunk of land the same length as Final Destination with no obstacles, hazards, benefits, or gimmicks, though what's underneath can take different shapes.
I should also point out that in my 3DS version, I currently have about 800 battles in For Fun and about 60 battles in For Glory. That should indicate to you my preferences.
Before we begin, you will see that I take For Glory with the same level of seriousness as I take For Fun: I will continue to keep the chip on Random.
Match #1
Mr. Game & Watch
Final Destination
Of course. Let's begin this first video of mine in For Glory with the stage that started all this infamy. Final Destination is, of course, available in For Glory, and it is the only stage excluded in For Fun. Now, I didn't dislike Final Destination until Brawl, and that's because I saw far too much of it. Since For Fun has stages randomly chosen, I would've liked to see Final Destination included in For Fun, as it means we wouldn't get oversaturated with the stage. This battle is also part of a conquest, to demonstrate that For Glory also has conquest battles. And of course, I had to be up against one of those Japanese players. A tsundere, according to that marker.
Match #2
Meta Knight
Mario Circuit (Brawl) (Omega)
In Brawl, Meta Knight has a 95% chance of victory against Ganondorf, according to the SmashBoards tiers. See how well that stands up in this match. Then again, I did one of those brainfart Self-Destructs, so perhaps it doesn't count. Yeah, you could probably tell by now that I was not at my best thinking capacity when I played this. I was incredibly tired and sleepy. (For the record, Ganondorf is currently higher on the tiers than Meta Knight in Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U.)
Match #3
Peach
Skyworld (Omega)
I decided to just think reactively instead of rushing in all the time about midway through, and it looks like my performance improved. I suppose years of laggy play made me forget to react to things.
Match #4
Robin
Garden of Hope (Omega)
Apparently, I'll encounter Garden of Hope pretty often, even on For Glory. Say, how does Nosferatu work anyway? How do I catch someone in it? I don't know what its hitbox is like, only that I always miss. I have only ever caught someone in Nosferatu once online, and I then KOed myself. A For Glory 1-on-1 match is probably not the best place to experiment on it, in any case... (And yes, I wanted to use that "Prepare yourself" taunt after Ike used his "Prepare yourself" taunt. Is that a thing in Fire Emblem, considering Lyn in this game says it too?)
Match #5
Captain Falcon
Delfino Plaza (Omega)
I take it some other people sense more lag in For Fun than in For Glory, but I got matches like this one a lot in the 3DS version, where there was a lot of lag, and it didn't feel any less laggy than For Fun. I'm guessing ACE disconnected somewhere along the way, as the lag disappeared and ACE's reliance on Zero Suit Samus's stun moves disappeared.
