I get to fight in a 1-on-1 battle on Figure-8 Circuit against Captain Falcon. I use Ryu in this fight, making this a battle of close range fighting, even though Ryu's Hadouken is good for getting in some ranged moves on the opponent. This is the fight we get items on, which didn't happen in the previous few matches I did with Ryu before this one.
First battle was on Tortimer Island against Roy and Palutena, items were turned off, and even though I did very good in that battle, and the other players were good, until the end when Roy got taken out of the fight, and Palutena was using too many overpowered attacks, like her Up Smash and special moves.
Second battle was against Donkey Kong, who didn't even last that long in the fight, and Wii Fit Trainer, who mostly used Sun Salutation and Deep Breathing, and it was very hard to get close to Wii Fit Trainer, and the stage was Super Happy Tree on Omega Mode.
Third battle was against Mario, the stage was Moray Towers and the Smash Ball was the only item turned on. This wasn't a good stage for Ryu. I'm starting to find online battles less fun if people are going to do no items and Omega Mode stages, or do no items and get a stage with too many platforms, or I play as a character that I am not very good with, and I'm quite decent with Ryu, as he does have good combo moves, but I think he is much better on stages without that many platforms.
I play this game to have fun online, which is why I like to have items turned on, and that I do very good in that battle. I'm not even a competitive Smash player, so it's very discouraging when I see no items in battle, I think they need to make it so that you are easily paired up with other players with the same preference, because it's not fair on players that like to play this game for fun, because not everyone plays this game competitively.
