17Monster Menu: The Scavenger's Cookbook is an upcoming rogue-like and cooking simulation game for Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5. It combines exploration of a brutal cave structure, collecting items for survival, and battling enemies. The game features character progression, where you level up and acquire new skills, but start from level 1 upon death. The game's performance on the Switch is excellent, with colorful visuals and typical NIS America aesthetics. The game offers a variety of character classes, including a chef who excels at cooking. Character customization allows players to choose gender styles, colors, poses, and portraits. The game has multiple difficulty modes and encourages players to play how they want. The story exists but can be missed as it is revealed through journal entry pages obtained during exploration. The turn-based tactical RPG combat is enjoyable, with quick battles and occasional challenging encounters. As players progress, they will explore different areas with new enemies. The game also features shrines that provide boosts and boons at a cost. Resting between floors and managing the day and night mechanic are important for character fatigue and encountering stronger monsters. I really enjoyed this game and recommended it to fans of tactical RPG rogue-likes and other NIS America titles.
