REVIEW
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Robots, gritty dystopian environments and a lot of walls. Throw in platforming mechanics and melancholic immersion and there you have Lorn's Lure.

I'm pretty curious to see how the story fleshes itself out in the main game. Everything is decrepit and barren yet signs of life show in the strangest of places. The demo teases the motivation of the main character to follow the bird-like anomaly because otherwise, the android's batteries are going to go caput. Simple but it's enough to justify the gameplay elements.

I imagine the bulk of the game will be focused on the freedom of movement and scaling utilizing physics and the ability to climb massive levels. The paths seems overwhelming but as the saying goes, "one step at a time". The fluidity of the android is smooth and control is lenient. Considering the scale of what you have to work with, it's nice that the mechanics aren't too punishing.

As I struggled to find the right words throughout the demo, I find it interesting how calm the game is with it's ambience. The world is grey and dark yet non-threatening. It seems intimidating on the surface but peaceful at the same time. I suppose the only antagonistic element is the result of the choices you make in the game, whether it'll benefit you or hinder you. Despite the visual impact, it's just another place to traverse.

I've said this many times and I'll say it again. You can never go wrong with retro aesthetics, pixelation and all that. There's always a charm to the classics.

I have high hopes for what the full game brings to the table. Even if the plot is simplistic, the adventurous feel to the game traversing ginormous environments has not bored me yet and I'd very much like to experience that in full once it releases.
