going great lengths just to give you a firm shake

Yeah, really not a lot to say about this one. A puzzle game where you solve ways of making 2 people shake hands. Add in some retro aesthetic, some groovy music and overall laid back atmosphere and you got Handshakes.

This is the type of game where what you see is exactly what you get. Despite groovy visuals and audio, it's your run of the mill brainpower game where it tests your problem solving skills with things either obvious or requiring some intuition and ingenuity to utilize correct outcomes. It is subjective but I found the challenges for the most part were not overly difficult. The more demanding ones may require more steps but these level designs didn't stop me in place for too long and it always felt rewarding once I accomplished them.

Apparently this game is tired to a genre dubbed in Japanese as "Sokoban", or warehouse keeper where you find solutions to a puzzle by having to move boxes here and there. Considering there's a lot of movement either by your cut off hands, boxes or the people themselves, it seems fitting.

Not too much, not too little, just right. Handshakes doesn't overextend it's existence in the puzzle genre nor does it feel weak or lackluster and while puzzle games aren't usually part of my palate, I can always appreciate effort in balancing gameplay and challenge.
