Sword of the Stars is a space-themed 4X game developed by Kerberos Productions. Following the success of that game, they went on to make a mechanically different game set in the same world, known simply as "The Pit" (but usually accompanied by its parent game's title). The Pit is a roguelike through and through, carrying numerous additional elements and intricacies while still maintaining the simple formula: descend and make your way to the ultimate achievement, defeating great foes along the way.

So far I'm enjoying a lot of the unique offering this game has, but... man, I don't know how I feel about the controls. I've discussed "three-handed" control schemes before (that is, needing to use the mouse but also needing both hands to work the entire keyboard): here it appears that you use the mouse for inventory business and keyboard for the rest, so it's not a huge break, but I really think games shouldn't make you have to move your hands. I still need to figure out all the controls anyway, maybe it'll turn out you can work entirely with two! And then I'd be quite happy.

Other than that, this looks like it'll be a ton of fun! As usual, the first video plays out the tutorial, but I think I'm getting better at these so it should be the normal bore 'n chore.
