Full disclosure: this is the first Syberia game I ever played (including Amerzone). I sat on the original trilogy for years without touching them, and playing The World Before helped convince me to finally dive into the series.
In short, The World Before absolutely entranced me. The opening is fantastic, and does a lovely job of highlighting the automaton-infused technology without losing the not-so-subtle references to Nazis and World War II. There are some heartbreaking moments, as it does compare very closely to real events during the '30s and '40s, but it was great to play through and learn about these characters, especially as I played alongside the original games to get a fuller picture of Kate Walker and her own personal journey.
Why did it take so long for me to play this series?
