Most people imagine Tyrannosaurus battling giant hornheads, chasing down chunky hadrosaurs, or ambushing the quick footed ostrich dinosaurs, but what if the real horror was much closer to home? Four separate studies. Four different sets of fossils. Drawer Monsters in Montana, a skull in Alberta, a mangled metatarsal in Wyoming, and bite-marked remains in New Mexico. Each line of evidence points to the same conclusion: Tyrannosaurs did occasionally munch on other Tyrannosaurs. Were these brutal attacks during life, or signs of scavenging the dead? Either way, it points to something often left out of the T. rex story – cannibalism, and when all the pieces are put together, the picture is hard to ignore.
