Taito's MASTERPIECE! Layer Section & Galactic Attack Tribute (Rayforce) Shoot Em' Up Review!
Taito's MASTERPIECE! Layer Section & Galactic Attack Tribute (Rayforce) Shoot Em' Up Review! City Connection return once more for another modern console port of a Shoot Em' Up Classic: Layer Force & Galactic Attack, better known by it's proper Japanese title, Rayforce! The name of this new port, Layer Section & Galactic Attack S-Tribute, is pretty misleading in my opinion, as it makes this seem like two distinct games. In this review I discuss why Rayforce itself is such an important and influential game, outside of just it's signature lock on mechanic, and go in depth on it's design and score systems. Outside of just a review of the game however, I also examine how this upcoming PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox port of the game stacks up to previous ports and check to see if it delivers in terms of interface, features, accuracy, and input lag, or is it another hot mess of a port? If you are a fan of new classics like Crimzon Clover, ZeroRanger, and of course the Darius series, then you definetly need to make Rayforce a part of your life, either with or without this new release. At the heftier price of $25, I'll try to weigh in on the question of is it worth it?
