General Sir David Richards has completed his first visit to Afghanistan since taking over as Chief of the Defence Staff. During stop-offs in Kabul, Kandahar and Camp Bastion he met British troops on the ground, as well as some of the Afghan security forces working in partnership with UK forces. Speaking exclusively to BFBS, General Richards said that the Taliban are "beginning to hurt" and that "there is a huge surge (from coalition troops) that is now beginning to get into gear."
