Talking Pixels -- Kartia
4The memory of Kartia didn’t really match up to playing it now. This is a game I remember from renting it from Blockbuster. Maybe it was just the nostalgia of it, or maybe I remember it differently because I didn’t get new games that often. Playing it now made me think more about the flaws I just ignored back then.
Kartia is a tactical RPG similar to Tactics Ogre and Final Fantasy. It has a triangle combat system similar to Fire Emblem. With that going for it, the game never seems to really capitalize on anything. It has a cool setting, some cool ideas, but a story I just think is dumb. You really have to play though it twice to get the full story, which is nice. I just didn’t care enough about the characters to want to do this.
