Tanuki Justice is a Sidescrolling Platformer in the Style of older Sega Master System Games, maybe a little more detailed. I honestly could also imagine the game playing on that console, since it could project many sprites and colors at once. But with the two Buttons the Console got, they would've been a bit more creative with mapping the controls.
But now to the Gameplay, the controls are fine and precise, but it seems that it only detects one Gamepad (i got two connected at that time), this wouldn't be normally a problem, but Tanuki Justice has a local two player mode and one player needs to play on the Keyboard then.
The Game is hard, one hit kills you, except you got one of the more rare shield powerups. I played on Normal (easiest difficulty) and there i got unlimited Continues. So when you lose a Extralife, you start at the point where you died, but when you get a Gameover, you have to replay the whole level. To not spoil the whole game, i played through the first 4 levels and it seems that the Game got 7 in total. Which might not sound like much, but the levels have all their distinctive look and aren't repetetive from the level architecture.
In a way the game got a lot in common with NES Contra, you just don't have these third person levels and the game is more on the colorful side.
The music is great, but i'm kind of missing a boss music, it just keeps playing the level music there.
For content you get Tanuki Justice isn't exactly cheap, it's a high but regular price. Such Games are mostly on the replayability, to beat such games on higher difficulties. Or in other words, to master them.
