This was my full practice session, where I practiced through the game using Save States to isolate and repeat certain sections until I get them down, for my legit playthrough. This is how I put together these types of games piece by piece when lives or continues are limited, or just to practice specific parts in games with infinite continues (Bosses, etc). Once I complete my first practice run of the full game it serves as a rough draft. From that point I make full legit attempts at the game, but I also save during sections that might end my run, just in case I need to refine my practice for my next attempts.
I completed Renegade on the NES and Master System but never this one. After seeing a video it looked easy enough to exploit. It just comes down to specific positioning and doing certain things on certain parts. There are a few tricky sections. The game only gives you 2 lives to beat the game. If you lose a life you go out to the continue screen, if you continue you go back to the beginning of the last stage you made it to with full health. You dont get all your health back between stages and picking up hearts is very anal with the positioning. Its a pretty jenky game but Ive beaten worse, like Double Dragon on the C64.
