[TAS] Doom E1M8 UV-Speed in 0:10.74 by almostmatt1 & RockyGaming4725
The first approximately three seconds are by Rocky and were taken from the 13.94 demo that we worked on together.
This demo features a newish void glide right before the map ends. I'm very happy with this :) Zero Master did a void glide in this location at the end of his Episode 1 TAS demo, but to do so he used an explosion from a rocket boost. This is only possible if you enter the map in an Episode demo already holding a rocket launcher because there is no rocket launcher in E1M8, so without an explosion the trick needs to be done a different way here, and that way is to build up speed by diagonally wallrunning.
Doing the trick with the rocket boost is hard enough because you need to have the explosion push you as close to the corner as you can on the frame immediately preceding the void glide while having heaps of speed, and then get a diagonal wallrun on the frame right after that to push you through the wall. It's pretty painful but it's doable. In E1M8 in particular you have heaps of room to play with on the approach leading up to the corner.
Doing it with diagonally wallrunning is harder. Getting a big momentum boost at all is quite difficult, and you need to get several leading up to the wall, and your movement choices need to mostly center around effectively getting momentum boosts at all which means you have less wiggle room to make sure you're also in a good spot before getting the void glide. So getting good momentum accumulation from diagonal wallrunning while also getting a good position with good speed is pretty annoying, which is why I've failed at this trick when I've tried it multiple times in the past, today I just got quite lucky with it.
