[TAS] Hills of Forever max score (48,350) - Kid Chameleon
25This is the first ever time both clocks in Hills of Forever have been collected while ending the level with the speed bonus. Not only is this the highest score ever achieved on this level, it is also the new optimal strategy in a full game maximum score TAS, increasing the total score by 820 points !! This might not seem like much but it is a HUGE point gain these days.
This route is derived from a previous video which introduced lift block teleportation, and how it can be used to get to this level's elsewhere telepad very quickly: https://youtu.be/UFKWVh8ucBU . I can't believe I didn't realize the scoring potential of this earlier, as this obviously SIGNIFICANTLY reduces the travel distance between the level's only two clocks—even still, it gets the speed bonus with only 5 seconds to spare. In addition, thanks to the huge downtime at the start waiting for the lift to count down, we're able to squeeze an extra 4 diamonds out of the level for no time penalty, which could potentially come to use in the full-game maximum score TAS.

Remember, the maximum score TAS uses 2 players to score some extra points thanks to two major glitches—the helmet storage and wrong warp glitches. Previously, the "scoring player" would arrive at Hills of Forever a quarter of the way through the level from a dead-end elsewhere as a Skycutter which was helmet-storage glitched in by the "helping player" stationed in Diamond Edge. The last time the "scoring player" needs a Skycutter helmet from the "helping player" is Alien Twilight, meaning once that's done, the "helping player" can move on from Diamond Edge (the best level for transferring Skycutter helmets) to Secrets in the Rocks in order to give a Cyclone helmet to the "scoring player" for Hills of Forever, and would play out as seen here! No helmet transfers are needed after this, so the "helping player" can immediately move on to Alien Isle to prepare for the wrong warp. Thus, this new development seamlessly fits into the full-game maximum score TAS route.
