Air Combat is a combat flight simulator and the first game in the Ace Combat series on a home console, in this case the PlayStation. It was meant to be a direct port of the original arcade game of the same name until hardware limitations forced the developers to reformulate the game and turn it into its own thing. Like the original, you control a fighter jet and perform missions such as destroying enemy jets and installations. Unlike the original, this game takes place in a fictional world and the missions involving stopping very well-equipped terrorists from invading a small island nation instead of fulfilling various jobs for the United Nations.
