In which Ike "borrows" the Home Run Contest bat and increases his Luck stat beyond what's physically possible.

This is a Tool Assisted Speedrun that aims to complete Classic Mode on the hardest difficulty as fast as possible. Custom equipment and special moves were used; while the equipment was hacked into the game, it was calculated to be possible for the game to randomly generate. The equipment set chosen spawns Ike with a Home Run bat, increases the bat's swing speed by 30%, and gives him a 20% chance to deal critical hits that do 300% more damage. The general strategy for this set is to bat-swing all the main opponents in the five regular fights, and then abuse RNG to get critical hits in the final boss fight against Master Core.

While it seems fairly simple, it was rather frustrating to get everything to play out how I wanted. The CPUs in this game infamously read your own inputs on higher difficulties, which means I had to do some rather obtuse movement in order to play them right into a bat swing in many instances.

The most frustrating thing was the boss fight against Master Core. The only way to properly see if one gets a Critical Hit is to see how much damage one dealt to an enemy. Because Master Core's very HP is hidden for almost all of its phases, seeing if my hits were critical hits was almost impossible. What's worse, Citra doesn't seem to have any compatible RAM Watch software yet (As Cheat Engine didn't find what I was looking for), and my attempts to remove the swarm of black particles from Master Core's HUD showed that there was no physical damage counter even there.

With that said, I still think this is a very solid run for a first attempt at an actual Tool Assisted Speedrun of the mode (The run with Ganondorf was more of a playaround). RNG could be improved (As always), especially with the Master Core fight. With everything perfect, I think a sub-3 time might be possible.
