Description :-)

Uwe Girlich once wrote:

"In this recording I use some interesting fighting
strategies."

Yeah yeah... I also used "interesting" fighting
"strategies". Fighting strategies my ass Uwe... better
say cheating heh?

Anyway, if somebody has doubts, my demo is CHEATED.
(That's why it appears in TAS and not in COMPET-N :)
I just wanted to make that clear.

I used high slowmotion in this run, I know it doesn't
look too good, but I wanted to see how fast one could
get with some real pushing here.

I also tried to improve the route a little. I get the
shotgun in 2 shots not 3, and I start backing off the
stairs while hitting the 2 gunners on the platform (not
standing still while making the shot, which Uwe did).

In the 2nd room, I chose the old method and used the
last sergeant in the room as the "elevator sergeant".
Uwe used the one coming up the stairs, because he
thought the LMP would be faster with a sargeant closer
to the trigger line. It's undoubtably closer, but as
you can see later, it makes little difference. Not
to mention that Uwe had to go round on a longer way
to kill the sergeant behind, and he lost a bit of
time doing that.

I took advantage of my method, and managed to kill
the sergeant on the stairs and the trooper behind it
with one shot. This saves 1 shot, which is crucial
in this type of run.

Entering the zig-zag room is done the same way as Uwe,
no change. After opening the door to downstairs while
running forward, I found time to turn around and kill
the final trooper in the room, another shot saved.

The next room is done the same way as Uwe. I think
this is the biggest innovation he had in his 0:29 recording,
keeping the imp alive so that it can open the door
later on. I followed his way and it worked nicely.

The 2 sargeants downstairs caused me some pain, but
finally I managed to take them out with 1 shot.
After that, I return to the zig-zag room, with 2 imps
and 1 sergeant at the secrets to be killed.
The importance here is, you can't spare time with these
due to the shotgun's reload time, so it doesn't really
matter if you kill these before or after you register
the elevator secret. As long as you find meat for your
shotgun, there will be no time lost. Because my
"elevator sergeant" is further away, I had time and
killed the imps and the sergeant before registering
the secret.

After that, it's easy running to the exit. Three
consecutive shotgun blasts ("elevator sergeant", "door imp"
and the barrel) before I arrive at the exit door.
The imp in there has no chance, just a quick shot before
pressing the switch.

This run improves Uwe's time by 3 seconds.
I needed 2 hours to get this time, I really can't understand
how one could spend the whole weekend on this like Uwe
did.

I think there is not much left to improve, but as no demo
is optimal, a little more can be shaved off.
Anyway, the main reason why I did this, was to show that
no Uwe Girlich demo is even close to optimal :))
