TASBot Re: Gradius - Revisiting TASBot's first charity event run
TASBot Re: Gradius is the first video in the TASBot Revisited series where the history of how TAS runs were pitched (and how Gradius desynced) at AGDQ 2014. See the full uncut presentation of https://youtu.be/Tx5U_bh2uIk and check out https://TAS.bot/wiki/AGDQ_2014 for more details.
TASBot's very first run at a charity event was on January 5th, 2014 at AGDQ 2014 playing adelikat's TAS of Gradius with two console verification TAS replay attempts on a real console using true's NES/SNES replay device held in TASBot's hands. This TASBot Re: presentation is an opportunity to provide context around past charity event runs with full attribution of the TAS authors and presenters that helped make it all happen and the challenges the TASBot team faced.
This run of Gradius by TAS author adelikat was shown at Awesome Games Done Quick 2014 benefiting the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Please update the TASBot wiki page for this run at https://TAS.Bot/wiki/AGDQ_2014 with any missing attribution or other run details; the wiki entry also includes historical original resolution video links.

Nintendo Entertainment System Gradius Tool-Assisted Speedrun by adelikat, author notes at https://tasvideos.org/1324S and published on TASVideos at https://tasvideos.org/711M with this description: "In this run, adelikat picks up maximum speed upgrades and has fun with perfect reflexes, much like the previous movie. That is certainly something nice to do, because the game scrolls automatically and the player cannot affect the speed. However, the point of this movie is not just to beat this game as fast as possible, but rather to do all kinds of unpredictable and awe-inspiring things rarely seen in any TAS — without losing time. See for yourself.
This is probably one of the best illustrations on how to create art out of a simplistic and otherwise uninteresting game to watch. What is also different about this movie is an extra warp which significantly shortens the game, and the use of a new tool (input macro) as described in the submission text. Bots are occasionally used to generate pseudorandom input while still avoiding death."
