And we did an NHL 99 Tournament with this team.
I'm gonna tell you right now, it was a no reset run until the last two games of the medal round, first Sweden then Canada. I had to preserve the artistic purpose of it so I did not mind doing it then. It worked out for the best. Winning gold was a requirement. When it's non-competitive where I'm not doing a stunt, that's fine, because the goal is personal honor first and foremost.
I think the computer does its version of "rubber banding" in the medal round because Canada was played in match play and the increase in difficulty was HUGE (and they are one of the best rating-wise). It did help that we got a 5 min powerplay in the match play but I chose to fight Chris Pronger and take the double matching 5 minute fighting majors because it was the gold medal game and I didn't want to taint it by letting the audience wonder "what if" he had played accurately to real life. Big mistake. It took time but they scored a bit more easier to tie it up than they would if I was out there. I'm the most honest rated left wing out there so given that our checking line is all computer and basically never used on even strength, if I'm out, then it's a rotation of Lisa Marie and Julia Jamilia and one of the computer players on a turntable. And this is all to subtract a 3rd pairing defender in Chris Pronger next to Daniel Tysonator on his native team? That's bad any way you look at it. But we did it, and we pulled off the comeback. And had anyone else scored that goal, the ending would not have been what it was because I would have had no beer left to drink at the end. So doing it for the artistic intent completely metamorphasized the direction of this project (there was NO set idea for the end, just like the Olivia Valencia video).
We did miss a legit Cindy Seto goal on one of the resets, but the same effect happened with Play It Bogart scoring in her place only this time we had a chance at an early OT winner with the game tied in regulation.
Commentary was not needed for this like the Mendoza video for example (an equivalent) but we did miss an absolutely amazingly funny segment in the game we didn't see because of it. It was the 2nd game against Belarus that ended in a 0-0 tie. The WHOLE time... and I do mean the WHOOOOLE time after a certain point, I could do nothing but shout "IT'S TEAM BELARUS!!!.. ITS FREAKING TEAM BELARUS!!!! IT'S TEAM BELARUS!!!!!" I sounded like Ross from Friends with the whole "WE WERE ON A BREAK" probably but in the sound of "PIVOT!!!! PIVOT!!!! PIVOT!!!!!"
I have no idea why team Belarus was so hard. It was bizzare. Even worse (from what I can remember) than the Team Italy game when I did the Jennifer Finland stream in 2022 that we lost against, and then in the finals in a no-reset stunt like stream play, Team Germany smashed us.
I was actually looking forward to going against either them and beating them or Team Japan who we added over Khazakstan, but despite Japan actually winning gold twice in simulation with a top line composed of Chloe Vega, HOF FS1, and @kinkyinpink left to right, they were absolutely absent in this tournament play, as was Germany.
I added guest players that were or would have been interesting besides the ones you saw like @TheMexicanRunner and @kristineleahy978 on Poland. https://www.instagram.com/melina.goransson/?hl=en was on Team Sweden and responsible for a LOT of resets. She didn't score every time but that line of Forsburg, Goransson, and Alfredsson gave us a REALLY REALLY REALLY hard time.
I'm not gonna lie. The highlight of me was the Arnold save on Jen. Yeah yeah the Stilla stuff was good but HOLIE... that was sweet. Kitti Dalma was my favorite goal scorer to edit for. Julia Jamilia had a surprisingly hard time. I docked her ratings with speed and skating against "Goddess rating protocol" to make her more like a mix of Damara Barnes from perm roster and Vince Johnson from past rosters, but with the skating of Cindy Seto, but jeez la-weez she had a hard time scoring. Hattwig and Rinarinavie blocking the puck and taking it off her for the goal was a dumper that time. She got ONE quality highlight reel celebration goal, and that was it.
Oh by the way, this was supposed to honor my CATS. Whatever. Enjoy.
