What Does It Feel Like... To Get an Adrian Beltre Game Ball? May 2nd 2011 DUDE TEMP FS1 REPURPOSE!!
DO NOT READ HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO COMPLETELY SPOIL A FIRST TIME ONLY EXPERIENCE THAT YOU WILL NEVER GET BACK THE SAME ONCE SPOILED
Ok, last chance to stop reading and keep watching
Ok, FIRST, best thing to do would be to pause at the very first title card and read the first words you see over and over again until you have fully convinced your mind that they are are true. Those words are
"THIS CANNOT BE IGNORED"
Then watch the remainder of the video, all 37 minutes, and DO NOT COME BACK DOWN HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO PERMANENTLY SPOIL EVERYTHING
RESIST TEMPTATION!
Are you still reading this before watching?
Ok, that was your last chance. Now you're gonna spoil it if you read more first
SO, you may be wondering why this video is so long. I measured it and the ball that was televised being caught on May 2nd 2011, foul off Adrian Beltre's bat, was 57 seconds long. So technically, that's ALL that needed to be here
That being said, along with my own ball that day (which has had MANY reuses in projects before this point), that's ALL that I got off the game. And if you really really and I mean REALLY think about it (for the record, I discourage this), I'm probably the only person in the universe who had recordings of both balls that day. I know this because at some point in 2010 after I got Suzuki balls 1 and 2, I wrote the A's to see if they can get me the broadcast footage of them, but they said they couldn't, so I had to go with the sports center and online mlb footage and it was BARELY enough to see me at all (which is why I asked). So I'm pretty sure that they probably do not make exceptions for employees either. I forgot what they said but it's through Comcast and too much trouble. So again... NOT AT ALL ENCOURAGING THIS, but if you REALLY think about it, I'm probably the only person who recored every game through half that year. Unless like..... yeah, every single game, every single year, every year, is way too much investment for any human being to do. So at least through HALF of 2011, I'm probably it. For that year alone.
Now do we understand why the first 4 words on the title card are most important?
Ok, if that isn't clear yet, it will be now
Here's how things went down that decided that this video must be made
@TheMexicanRunner was doing a fundraiser for a new PC. I donated to that fundraiser ($200, by time the 2,000 goal was met) and picked Super Bases Loaded for SNES to play, and as the green edit team because I was upset with the lack of footage available for that game on youtube and in my opinion the only one I came across was terrible. Plus I know he's not an SNES or baseball guy, but the concept of the game was unique that I wanted him to try it
What you see in the opening is just the chat transcript for accuracy purposes that will later be used artistically and show more of the game when different parts from that chat are needed. It's important because that's what in film they call the "impetus to action", "springboard", "in" or "angle" for a project. People not in America aren't familiar with baseball, DREAM of going to an American baseball game, and LOVE the idea of catching a ball at one, and COMPLETELY 100% INNOCENTLY, people ask me if I ever caught one.
What do I say? If you are me, David Vega, WHAT THE F do you say?
Ok so if you get that, I am so sorry, but that's why we're making this video. There are innocent people out there and...
Ok, so, after that, completely unexpectedly Adrian Beltre got inducted to the hall of fame first ballot, and that pretty much did it for deciding to make this
So I followed TMR chat with a montage to Olivia Rodrigo's Deja Vu, as I've been using it recently. Then he gets a "Firestarter Intro" as is customary when I make person-honorary video projects nowadays. And then we get the 57 seconds of May 2nd ball off his bat. We do the necessary censor jobs, and then we transition into the rest of the video bringing TMR chat back, and other stuff and continue the same censor job for the same reason throughout. First a song called "Slideshow" by Blue Magic, and a Toni Braxton song that honestly I didn't know the title of until I looked it up, and I heard BOTH of those in the car all the time as a kid. And the Braxton song specifically, I hated more than you can possibly imagine, possibly for reasons you wouldn't believe if I told you.
So we took that and turned it into an extreme positive, which is just profoundly amazing to me. I'm hoping that people will now get why I have "DAVID LIKE WHOA VEGA IS 100% REDEEMED" in every FS intro. This project exemplifies that more than any of the rest I have done these last 2 years.
After that, we have an extended sequence to the Sigma ending theme from Megaman X SNES, to really ram home the worst damage to me helping people as is secondary in importance to being provably lovable. And then we have a Goldeneye ending. Yes I played it for this
Also, somebody save me time and get this to governor Gavin Newsom
