I am a very big fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, I grew up in the 80s.
I had dozens of Turtles as a kid & I saw every episode & every movie, including the modern ones.
To start with, I thought the gameplay was fine. Very basic but fine. I feel like the game is targeting very low IQ players. Don't be offended, watch & listen to my video & you will quickly understand.
There is no difficulty setting & it becomes very clear that it is very generous with health replenishing items. I played for 1 hour & did not get into a single boss fight & came across 3 or 4 different enemies.
I do not hate the art style, but some characters like Bebop with his pierced nipples that hang way too low & April O'Neil, they are very off-putting.
I don't care so much that they race swapped April for a black female but I understand why people did not like that & it makes sense. What I did not like however is that they made her into an obese teenage girl. The game is severely & progressively modern politics with body positivity. Even Bebop makes a comment about how he feels discriminated because he's "Plus Size", shut up video game! April is a teenage girl & even as a woman she was always fit. This is not a good example for healthy kids. That's my issue with April.
The game got completely derailed very early on when they started talking about attending a "March" & I called it right away that it would turn into a protest. And it did.
The game is not based on the movie, it is after the movie. It feels like they spent a lot less time working on the gameplay & focused more on the modern story. I guaranty you, the turtles become political social activists in the game & we already see it with the Coexistence Organizations that Donatello (or Leonardo) gets involved with.
It derails the game & turned me off so fast. The dialogue is terrible. The combat is basic. The audio is...I don't remember anything that sounded good. Oh & Michelangelo, he sounds sedated & has a very bizarre way of moving & his moaning & grunting will get stuck in your head if you wear earphones.
I do not recommend buying this game at all. Play it on Game Pass instead.
