I've got to give credit to Namco for trying to bring that classic fighting feel to my handheld console. Having a taste of that familiar combat style on the go was cool, even if it wasn't the full deal.
Seeing some familiar faces from the series is always neat, but it feels like a bit of a slimmed-down selection compared to what I was used to on the consoles. I guess they had to make some sacrifices to fit it all in.
Understandable, but man, the controls are a real challenge.
Trying those signature moves on the Game Boy Advance is tough. The button layout just doesn't cut it, making the whole fighting experience less smooth and more frustrating.
Moreover, the hardware limitations of the GBA took a toll. The limitations of the handheld console are evident, giving me a watered-down version of what I knew from the bigger consoles.
Again, while I appreciate the effort to bring Tekken to the handheld realm, but the compromises for portability didn't quite capture the whole experience. It scratched the nostalgia itch, but it didn't quite match up to the complete immersion fans were familiar with.
Now back in the swing of things, I am trying to conquer the game on Normal. Hard level, here I come.
