His content has changed over the years, but his personality is what kept older subs like me stay. When I started watching YouTube back in 2009, it was a different place, their slogan was "Broadcast Yourself" and the site tried its best to be a place where an ordinary person could be lucky and gain popularity to the point that they were known outside of the site. The YouTube Partnership program began to be more easily accessible to every channel so it became possible to make a living off of what used to be only an internet hobby. PewDiePie was just one of us, a small channel that wanted to have fun on the internet. Skip forward to now where the sub gap is barely more than 20,000 between PewDiePie and T-Series and one can see why the entirety of the site has united against T-Series. We don't want a faceless media company to be the number one subscribed channel on the site that once had the slogan of "Broadcast Yourself". This is why we are all subscribing to PewDiePie.
