Imagine a music room where 28 students are sprawled across the floor, sitting under the countertops or working intently at desks on their devices. Their heads bob along with the music that they have created. What is this web-based software that allows students to meet the National Core Arts Standards for composition without requiring previous knowledge of music theory? Hyperscore–an AMAZING web-based graphic interface that allows anyone of any age or ability to create music as long as they have access to a device and the internet.

Using Rhythm, Melody and Harmony Sketch Windows you can creatively and playfully participate in composing music by choosing and manipulating note values, melodic pitch, monophony or polyphony, dynamic levels and tone color and designing harmonies and form. If that’s not enough, you’ll see that completed pieces can be presented visually as is, or downloaded into standard notation through a program that imports MIDI files. We’ll also share our Educator Version that enables instructors to manage a classroom of students and allows members’ pieces to be shared and remixed through the Hyperscore Community using their school or personal account.

In 12 minutes and 26 seconds, Director of Education, Cecilia Roudabush, who taught thousands of students to compose using Hyperscore from 2005 until 2021, will share why she thinks Hyperscore is the “missing expressive link” in the music room. Please help us in celebrating this amazing Pre K-12 composition tool by watching our Showcase video and joining the Hyperscore Challenge!
