Telltale's The Walking Dead S2 Episode 5: No Going Back [Part 1/2]
3As two groups of survivors engage in a shootout following Clementine's murder of Rebecca, situation quickly deteriorates as Luke is shot through the leg and Arvo's sister is killed and reanimated as a zombie, forcing Clementine to kill her in order to protect herself, much to Arvo's horror as his hatred towards Clementine increases. As the shootout turns into a deadlocked struggle between the last remaining Russian survivor, Kenny and Clementine, Kenny takes distraught Arvo hostage, threatening to kill him unless the Russian surrenders. However, as he refuses, he is suddenly stabbed through the back and killed by Jane who has returned to the group. Now all alone and at the mercy of Clementine's group, Arvo proceeds to beg for his life, offering to take the group to his hideout where his group apparently stockpiled supplies. Despite Kenny refusing to believe him and wishing to kill him immediately, he is overruled by the rest of the group who decide to trust Arvo and let him lead them to his hideout, aware of their dire situation regarding food and other supplies.
As they travel through the snow-covered woods, tensions in the group keep increasing due to everyone, chiefly Bonnie, Mike and Jane, openly starting to distrust and fear Kenny due to his increasingly rash and violent decisions while Clementine tries to justify his behavior while also promising to try and ensure that he doesn't go too far. Eventually, the group decides to stop at an abandoned power station for the night, relaxing a bit as Luke reveals that he just turned 27.
Following day, group reaches Arvo's hideout, a half-built house located on the far side of the frozen lake. Without safe way to cross it, the group is forced to walk over the ice. However, as they start to cross the lake, a small group of zombies starts approaching them, causing Arvo to panic and try to run over to the other side with Kenny managing to catch him. Eventually, Kenny, Arvo, Mike and Jane cross the lake, leaving only Luke, Bonnie and Clementine on ice as they try to make their way over while avoiding the zombies who are slowly approaching them. Just then, thin ice below Luke breaks, causing him to fall into the freezing water. Aware that he won't be able to pull himself out due to his injuries, Bonnie and Clementine offer to help him with Clementine deciding to hold the approaching zombies off while Bonnie tries to reach Luke. However, as she approaches him, ice breaks under her as well. With Luke trapped under the ice, Clementine proceeds to break it with her handgun in a desperate attempt to save him from drowning despite Jane trying to call her back, claiming that she won't be able to save him. Eventually, the ice breaks, causing Clementine to fall into the water as well, seeing Luke as he loses the last of his strength and drowns before she and Bonnie are both pulled out of the water by Jane and Kenny.
Suffering from hypothermia due to exposure to the freezing water, Clementine and Bonnie are brought to Arvo's hideout in order to warm up with enraged Kenny verbally attacking Arvo and accusing him that he intended for everyone to die and that he likely lied about the supplies. Snapping due to Kenny's maltreatment, Arvo curses him out, provoking Kenny to push him on the ground and start savagely beating him, nearly killing him before Mike intervenes and stops him.
That night, Clementine, now warmed up, talks to Jane about Kenny's attack on Arvo before Kenny enters the room, asking Clementine to join him in front of the house where he found a functional, albeit frozen truck. Once she gets out, Kenny suggests Clementine to peel off from the group with him and Rebecca's son, newly christened Alvin Junior and that they try to reach Wellington on their own...
