Temtem Is A Pokemon MMO On PC | Temtem Gameplay And Impressions
If you’ve dreamed of Pokemon PC, or a Pokemon MMO, then Temtem is for you: a Kickstarter game that brings the creature capturing, training and battling of Pokemon to PC, without infringing on any copyrights and getting shut down the second Nintendo hear about it, as so often happens. One look at Temtem gameplay shows you how close they are.
Really, if you’ve played Pokemon then you’ll be able to predict everything in these Temtem impressions: fighting beasts in long grass, battling through dojos to meet dojo masters, healing at a special Temtem hospital, getting your Temtem creatures to evolve. This was captured during the Temtem alpha (there has been a Temtem stress test recently, too) so is far from our final verdict on the game. We hope to offer a work in progress Temtem review when the game releases on early access on January 21st.
The Temtem Pokemon similarities are strong, but the games do differ in subtle ways. For starters, a Pokemon MMO has never been a proper thing, so it’s great to see fellow players running about the world offering trading or battling opportunities. Secondly, the focus on dual battling (you have two Temtem creatures in every team) puts more of a focus on how a team works together. Of course, the game really lives and dies by the strength of the tem tem themselves, but what we’ve found so far has been quirky and colourful. Pigepic is a personal favourite. Also sounds like the noise a Pikachu makes. Huh!
We hope you enjoy this Temtem preview - it’s all Temtem PC gameplay, but the game is coming to Switch and other formats at a later point. If you have any questions, pop them in the comments. And share your own thoughts: which is your favourite Temtem starter? Do you play the Temtem alpha? Are there any Pokemon features you don’t want to see in the game? Can Temtem creatures possibly compete with Pokemon designs? Let us know your thoughts.
