Don’t expect a full Zombie Army 4 review - we’ve played two stages of the new Zombie Army and horde mode to bring you these impressions. We will have a Zombie Army 4: Dead War review down the line, but not today. But this new Zombie Army 4 gameplay will show you all the new features: the new character progression that includes perks, weapon upgrades and unlockable melee attacks. The new enemies, from the giant butcher to the zombie tanks - yes, vehicles can be undead now. Our Zombie Army 4 verdict: this is a very silly game.
We played a couple of rounds of Zombie Army 4 horde. This time the levels bust open the longer you survive, changing the nature of the space you’re fighting in. We prefer the campaign play, where there’s a bit more variety as you move from more open sandbox areas to tight corridors where survival gets pretty stressful. Should point out that this is Zombie Army 4 Xbox One capture, so apologies for the rough resolution. Zombie Army 4 PS4 looked similar from what I could see, but I’m hoping the PC version will be shinier.
The most impressive improvement is Zombie Army 4 single player, which feels like a more appetising proposition this time out. It’s still quite harsh without allies to revive you, but new perks help with that and the action takes on a more survival heavy vibe. Elsewhere in this Zombie Army preview we cover traps, takedowns, blood fountains and summoning portals - all ways of keep the action fresh and messy. Oh, and some love for the new flamethrower and buzzsaw. Yum!
