Sucks that you can no longer converse with plants and animals. Blazer himself spoke with both them and humans just fine, I wonder why you aren't able to. A side note, you can return back to Sanctuar via the gulls and travel to Neotokio (Japan), although there it isn't really worth the travel time, so it's better to visit there sometime later.
